The alternative text describes what is visible in the image, regardless of the context in which the image might be used. Be accurate. Focus on describing the image. Be concise. Long alternative texts are frustrating for those using screen readers. Use as few words as possible. The guideline is a maximum of 100 characters. Avoid ‘keyword stuffing’. This is not the place to include as many keywords as possible. Avoid mentioning that it is an image. There is no need to include ‘Image of...’ or ‘Photo of...’ in descriptions. Both Google and screen readers can determine that on their own.
